The Grand Marais Farmers Market is held on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 pm through mid-October at the Cook County Community Center parking lot. The market is a partnership between the Northwoods Food Project (a 501c3 non-profit organization), the Cook County Community Center, and the Cook County U of MN Extension.

The Finland Summer Farmers Market is held on Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 pm under the pavilions at the Clair Nelson Center in Finland. More information is available at finlandfarmersmarket.com.

The Radio Waves music festival is a three-day celebration of local music and community on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Held the weekend after Labor Day every year, this annual festival organized by WTIP Community Radio brings together:
• diverse musical acts, spanning many genres;
• a balance of new artists and local favorites;
• an audience of area residents and seasonal visitors;
• community service partners and local food makers;
• a welcoming and family-friendly atmosphere;
• a uniquely beautiful location found only on the North Shore of Lake Superior.

Drury Lane Books hosts Full Moon Poetry on Sunday, September 7 from 6 to 8 pm. This is an open community bonfire where all are encouraged to share a favorite piece of prose or literature. Meet just behind the shop on the beach side. More information is available at drurylanebooks.com.
Bone Builders is a group exercise weight training program that was created for adults who are interested in preventing and reducing osteoporosis. Bone Builders meets at the Lutsen Town Hall on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 11 am.
Monday Night Al-Anon will meet Mondays, at 7 pm at the First Congregational Church in Grand Marais.
The Cook County Board of Commissioners meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Room.

The Grand Marais Public Library hosts a writing workshop on Point of View with award-winning novelist Brian Malloy on Wednesday, September 10 from 6 to 8 pm. The workshop will be geared toward adults and youth, ages fourteen and above. Attendees should bring paper and a pen or pencil. The workshop is part of a series of workshops led by Malloy at the Library.
