More Events: Visit Cook County
Cook County Higher Education and Care Partners of Cook County are hosting Lunch & Learn: Force of Habit on Wednesday, January 22 from Noon-1pm. This will be held in person at CCHE or join over Zoom. Presenter Hartley Newell-Acero, National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach will facilitate an opportunity to think about breaking and building habits and how to begin exploring what you want and developing a plan to get there. The Grand Marais Public Library hosts geologist Al Trippel to present on the geology of the North Shore on Wednesday, January 22 from 6 to 8 pm. Al will explain the geological and historical context to the rocks we find, whether washing up on the shores of Lake Superior or unearthing themselves on the Superior Hiking Trail.
The West End Alanon family Group meets each Wednesday at 7 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall. Alanon is a group that supports friends and family members of alcoholics. The group welcomes anyone who has been affected by a friend or family member who has a problem with alcohol.
Narcotics Anonymous meetings are Wednesday evenings at 7 pm at The Hub in Grand Marais. All who have an interest are welcome to come.
Northern Lotus Meditation takes place on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, with instruction in meditation and room manners at 6:45 pm, at Two Bird Healing Arts Center in Grand Marais.
The Grand Marais Public Library will host beginner knitting classes with Dorothy Boomall, owner of the local knit shop Dappled Fern Fibers. Each session focuses on a different basic knitting skill. All are welcome to attend all sessions or choose the ones you are most interested in. Yarn and needles will be provided.
The classes will take place on Thursdays from 10 to 11 am. Dates and topics are:
January 23 – Knit Stitch
January 30 – Purl Stitch
February 6 – Fixing Mistakes
February 20 – Increase & Decrease
February 27 – Reading a Pattern
