Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery hosts the opening reception for the Birney Quick Legacy Exhibition on Friday, March 29 from 5 to 7 pm.
Artist Birney Quick (1912-1981) produced more than 10,000 works of art in his lifetime, many of which were painted in Cook County. He was a teacher, expert fisherman, and founded the longest-running art colony in Minnesota, the Grand Marais Arts Colony. This showcase will highlight the many techniques and mediums Quick mastered, from watercolors to charcoals to wood carving.
