Rivers of Lake Superior’s North Shore: An Ojibwe Perspective

North House Folk School
500 W Hwy 61
Grand Marais, MN 55604

Over two dozen scenic rivers descend the North Shore’s rugged landscape into Lake Superior. These rivers lie within the traditional historical territory of two modern tribal nations: the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the Fort William First Nation.

North House Folk School will host Erik Redix, Grand Portage Ojibwe Language Coordinator, for Rivers of Lake Superior’s North Shore: An Ojibwe Perspective.

This presentation will explore the Ojibwe language names for these iconic waterways, and discuss how this reveals a much richer understanding of the area. It will be in the Blue Building on Thursday, March 28 at 7 pm.
