Live at WTIP – Boss Mama

Colleen Myhre, AKA Boss Mama, is a blues guitarist and singer out of the small town of Mahtowa, MN. Her powerful voice and rocking all-star band the Jebberhooch make her one of the most exciting acts in the Northland. She joins Will Moore on the Scenic Route to talk about her latest album “Greetings from the Barnyard Lounge”, performing some of the new original songs from it in WTIP’s music library.

Maria Nickolay – Live at WTIP

Maria Nickolay is a musician based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but several of the songs on her new EP entitled Wolves deal with her longing for her home where she grew up – Cook County, Minnesota. She performs two new original songs from the EP at the WTIP music library as part of the Live at WTIP series.

Buffalo Galaxy – Live at WTIP

Buffalo Galaxy is a talented jam-oriented bluegrass group from Minneapolis whose sound is where “heavy hitting psychedelia meets old timin’ bluegrass”. The band is comprised of Johnny Kovarik on vocals/guitar, Pete Whiteman on bass, Zach Tauer on banjo, and Jake Rohde on mandolin. They performed live on WTIP during the 2023 Fall Membership Drive on The Scenic Route with Will Moore. See them perform 3 original songs here as part of the Live at WTIP series:

The Thirsty River – Live at WTIP

Maygen & the Birdwatcher – Live at WTIP

Maygen & the Birdwatcher graced the WTIP Library with a live performance of their songs “Jigsaw” and “Dominé.” Lead singers Maygen Lacey, and Noah Neumann are a Minnesota-based folk duo-turned-Americana band whose 2021 debut album “Moonshine,” earned Midwest Country Music awards for Americana Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. Video is by Bear Witness Media with sound mixing by Will Moore. “Live at WTIP” is funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Mae Simpson Band Performs Live at WTIP

Join us in the WTIP Music Library for this funky and soulful performance by Mae Simpson! Recorded live at WTIP Community Radio in Grand Marais, January of 2023. The group performed three songs, “Soul,” “Stuck Behind the Blues,” and “Wrap Around.”

Ginger Bones performs Live at WTIP

Ginger Bones is the talented trio of musicians hailing from both the North Shore and the Twin Cities. They came to WTIP on June 13, 2022 to perform new original songs in WTIP’s music library as part of a new video series in partnership with Bear Witness Media. Their new EP is called “Home For Dinner”. You can find an interview with the band and samples of the music in their Sounds and Sparks segment with Will Moore.
