Filing for Grand Marais City Council, ISD 166 School Board, and North Shore Health Board opens July 30
The filing period for the ISD 166 School Board, North Shore Health Board, and the Grand Marais City Council will begin on Jul. 30.
The Grand Marais City Council, ISD 166 School Board, and North Shore Health Board races will not include a primary, and instead be part of the general election on November 5.
To file for candidacy, Cook County Auditor/Treasurer Braidy Powers said those interested in running for the ISD 166 School Board and the North Shore Health Board races should file at the Auditor’s office at the Cook County Courthouse.
Potential candidates can complete their paperwork in person, or opt to take it with them, though the affidavit of candidacy will need to be notarized. He said that anyone who is at 21 years old, an eligible voter, and a resident of the district they are hoping to represent, can run.
Given the city hall/municipal liquor store construction project, Communications Director Patrick Knight said Grand Marais City Council candidates “will be able to pick up and drop off their filing packets at the Grand Marais library.”
The filing window is open for two weeks, from Jul. 30 to Aug. 13.
