Grand Marais Fire Department remembers 9/11

September 11 is Patriot Day.

This day was established to honor the memory of thousands of Americans lost, and their families who still suffer, long after the attack that toppled the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers in New York City.

The nation also grieves with those who lost loved ones at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. and on Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Each year, fire departments across the country commemorate the day which saw the loss of 412 emergency responders. This is the 19th anniversary of that tragic day and the Grand Marais Fire Department is once again marking the day by raising the American flag on its ladder truck at Harbor Park.

The flag was posted at sunrise and will be lowered at 7:20 this evening.
