Local Business Spotlight: Superior Creamery

Since opening in 2022, Superior Creamery owners Alex Beebe-Giudice and Christine Sayler have been turning simple, regional ingredients into creative and flavorful handmade ice cream.

“To date, we have about 40 different flavors that we rotate through every couple of weeks,” said Beebe-Giudice.

Using dairy sourced from Autumnwood Farms in Forest Lake, Minn., the pair craft favorites like salted honeycomb, lemon sorbet, peanut butter chocolate pretzel, and seasonal specialties such as pumpkin spice—each made in small batches.

“We focus on classics and kind of putting our own little spin on some of the traditional flavors,” Beebe-Giudice said. “We have a couple out there that are unique to us, that put us on the map in northern Minnesota.”

With a few years of operating an ice cream shop under their belt now, Beebe-Giudice said he feels Superior Creamery is finally hitting its stride and finding its place in the Grand Marais business community.

“This year, 2025, was pretty awesome,” he said. “I think we have found our place in the community as an ice cream shop.”

The owners recently wrapped up their 2025 season in mid-October. The ice cream shop will be temporarily closed until January 2026, when it will reopen on weekends and Holidays. Beebe-Giudice said the time away from the business helps to recharge and return in the new year with a “fresh set of eyes.”
