Updated Feb. 2, 7:11 pm

Emergency responders including, the Lutsen Fire Department and Lutsen First Responders, were called at 6:29 p.m. to respond to a utility pole that was on fire near the  Lutsen Sea Villas.

The fire was the result of a power line issue. The utility pole was located roughly 60 feet from the nearest structure and was in a wooded area. By 6:51 p.m. crews reported that the fire was under control, and that Arrowhead Electric was on the scene. Around 7:05 p.m., emergency responders began clearing the scene.

Arrowhead Cooperative Electric Operations Manager Steve Waver told WTIP, “One of our power poles near Lutsen Sea Villas had an issue that caused the pole to catch on fire. Our crews responded, made the repair and got everyone back on as quickly and as safely as possible.”

WTIP will continue to provide updates as they are available.
