Racers say Lutsen 99er was muddy, tough, and “a blast”

Despite the wet weather leading up to the race that necessitated course adjustments from the Lutsen 99er bike race organizers, the race still saw the expected number of contestants, and was able to be held according to plans.

The course was exceptionally muddy, and many racers told WTIP that they had to navigate deep puddles, and had to dismount for parts of the course. Many also said, however, that though the race was difficult, it was also a lot of fun.

The results of the races are below, along with a gallery of pictures taken as the races were concluding. Plus, WTIP’s M Baxley was at the start of the race and spoke with a race organizer, and Kirsten Wisniewski checked in with cyclists after the race. Audio from those conversations is below the photos and results.
