Talking with MnDOT about detours, cameras, and typos
Construction work on Highway 61 is well underway in the city of Grand Marais with orange cones and detour signs directing traffic away from primarily Broadway Avenue at this time.
Work started as planned Monday, May 18 and includes the reconstruction work at Broadway, as well as some driveway approach work on the west side of Grand Marais, near the Blue Moose garden center.
WTIP’s Rhonda Silence checked in with MnDOT Grand Marais Project Engineer Edward Welch to find out what is happening in this first phase.
She also asked about the purpose for the cameras at the temporary stop light at the intersection of County Road 7 and 5th Avenue West and about a typographical error on a construction sign.
To learn more about the project as it proceeds, the public is invited to join online public meetings each Thursday at 1 p.m. Find more information on taking part on the MnDOT Highway 61 construction project on the project website.
