Vikings ready for first home game

The Vikings boys basketball team started the season with three straight road games, emerging with a 1-2 record. That includes a big win on Friday, Dec. 8 in Floodwood 85-44. In that game, senior Recko Helmerson-Skildum had his first career dunk.  Head Coach Keaton Riley says it was the first dunk by a Vikings player since he has been here in three years.  Also in the win, Parker Backstrom put up a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. That’s the first double-double for the Vikings since Paul Dorr in 2021 according to Riley.

Up next for the Vikings is a home game against Cromwell on Friday, Dec. 15 at 6:15 pm.

In the audio below WTIP’s Sterling Anderson talks with Coach Riley and Helmerson-Skildum.
