WTIP local election night coverage to begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8. The WTIP News Department will be sharing election news throughout the week, including live coverage starting at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
WTIP’s News Team, including Rhonda Silence, Kalli Hawkins, and Joe Friedrichs, will be live on the air sharing national, state, and local election results. The coverage will go until approximately midnight, depending on when local election results come in. Local election results the news team will be following include the Cook County Board of Commissioners, Grand Marais City Council, and ISD 166 School Board. The WTIP staff will also closely follow and share state election results, including for Senate District 3, House District 3A, Minnesota’s governor and the 8th Congressional District.
When it comes to voting on Election Day, many voters in Cook County are familiar with voting by mail.
However, as of Nov. 7, county officials now recommend taking your election ballot to the courthouse in order to assure it will be counted on Election Day.
The location of the drop box to place ballots is outside the Cook County Courthouse in Grand Marais. The drop box is near the front, or west, entrance to the courthouse.
Many Grand Marais voters head to the polls on Election Day, as voting in these precincts takes place in person at the courthouse of community center.
Contact the Cook County Auditor’s Office at (218) 387-3640 if you have any questions about where to drop off your election ballot, or where to vote on Election Day.
WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Cook County Auditor Braidy Powers about all of these topics and more election news. Hear the full interview in the audio below.
