WTIP talks about the value of community radio with Minnesota broadcasting legend Freddie Bell

Freddie Bell is a legend in Minnesota broadcasting.

Bell is the general manager and hosts a popular morning program at KMOJ Radio in Minneapolis. He is also the current president of the Board of Directors for AMPERS, a network of community radio stations across Minnesota. In 2022, he was inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

As part of the station’s 2023 summer membership drive, WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Bell about the role of community radio stations across Minnesota, where diversity, equity, and inclusion policies fit within the mission of community radio, and why it’s important for listeners and community members to be involved in their local radio stations.
