WTIP wins MSPJ “Page One” Award for Breaking News Coverage
Grand Marais, Minn., June 30, 2025 – WTIP North Shore Community Radio has received an award for Breaking News Coverage for the story “Structure Fire Destroys Historic Lutsen Lodge Along Lake Superior,” produced by Kirsten Wisniewski and Kalli Hawkins. This live reporting from the site of the fire, aired the morning of February 6, 2024. The story also received a regional Edward R. Murrow award, and a first-place award from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association Eric Sevareid Awards.
In response to the state-level recognition, WTIP Executive Director Matthew Brown said, “We are immensely proud of our news team for their in-depth coverage of this devastating fire.” Brown added that, “our team of staff and volunteer multi-media producers consistently create outstanding content that is vital to our community.”
