Community members continue to engage with One Small Step initiative

Earlier this year, WTIP announced that it was selected to be a hub station for StoryCorps’ One Small Step initiative.

One of six radio stations in the U.S. to be chosen for the 2022 project, the station is asking for help to strengthen the local community – one conversation at a time.

It works like this: community members in the WTIP listening area can sign up here to be involved with the project. It’s an opportunity to meet somebody who thinks differently than you do about issues and to have a personal conversation. In other words, it’s an opportunity to connect.

Barbara Jean Meyers, a longtime contributor to WTIP, is co-leading the project. She spoke with WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs during a live interview Oct 21 on Daybreak about the ongoing project. Featured in the discussion was an audio clip from a recent recording with local residents that will be included in the initiative. The conversation was between Cook County residents Dean Berglund and Mary Somnis. Audio below.
