WTIP talks with Skraba and Hauschild about childcare funding and coast guard station

Local officials in Cook County are hosting a community conversation about local childcare initiatives, successes, and ongoing challenges July 6 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Cook County Higher Education.

All community members with an interest in childcare—including providers, families with children attending childcare, families who are struggling to access childcare that meets their needs, local businesses who have been affected by the availability of childcare for their workforce, and anyone interested in learning more about the topic, are invited to attend.

State legislators, including District 3A Rep. Roger Skraba and State Sen. Grant Hauschild, will also be in attendance to listen to community needs and to share more about childcare-related topics in Cook County.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Skraba and Hauschild before the event in Cook County. Audio below.

Other topics discussed during the WTIP conversation are the recent closing of the Coast Guard Station in Grand Marais and the deaths of two Minnesota teens who drowned in Lake Superior near Silver Bay.
