DNR asks for help with deer poaching case in Cook County

A local conservation officer with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is asking for the public’s help with an ongoing case involving deer that were shot and killed out of season.

Conservation Officer Kylan Hill of the Tofte station and district reports finding three freshly-skinned deer hides in the ditch off a road in Schroeder. All three of the deer hides had bullet holes in them.

Hill believes the deer were killed during the last week of March. There is currently no open season for deer anywhere in the state. If anyone has information about the case it can be anonymously through the DNR’s TIP line at 800-652-9093.

Tips and information call also be shared directly by contacting Hill at (218) 387-4393.
