Public health on tragic situation at Silver Bay Veterans Home after COVID-19 deaths

The case count for COVID-19 continues to climb throughout northeastern Minnesota, including in both Cook and Lake counties.

There are multiple active cases in each county at the start of the holiday week, with several dozen active cases in Lake County at this time.

In related news, five residents from the Silver Bay Veterans Home died due to COVID-19 last week, as was first reported by Fox 21.

WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Cook County Public Health Supervisor Grace Grinager about the status of COVID-19 in the region and what to prepare for this Thanksgiving with regard to the ongoing pandemic.

Also covered in the interview posted below is concern among some community members about tourists coming to Cook County and the North Shore over the holidays.
