COVID-19 numbers continue to rise near the North Shore

Cook County public health officials received notice of 15 new COVID-19 cases in recent days. The 15 new cases came between Nov. 30 and the day before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Among the new cases are eight local women and seven Cook County men, including one person under the age of 18. This brings the total case count for Cook County to 78 since the beginning of the pandemic. There are many active cases in the community at this time compared to other periods of the pandemic.

The case count also continues to climb in nearby Lake County, where there are more than 60 active cases as of the final day in November. Lake County has recorded six deaths due to COVID-19, all of them coming in November.

Statewide, 15 COVID-19 deaths were reported by Minnesota health officials Monday, along with 5,801 new infections of the virus.
