Arrowhead Eagles host annual airport pancake breakfast Saturday

This Saturday, the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation organization will host the annual fly-in/drive-in pancake breakfast at the Grand Marais/Cook County Airport.

The event typically features blueberry pancakes, discounted airplane rides, and a chance to view vintage aircraft on display on the airport property.

“We look forward to it every year,” said Mike Raymond, president of the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation. “The turnout is always good, and we’re thankful for the local community support that we get.”

In addition to celebrating aviation and enjoying delicious pancakes, the event is a primary fundraiser for the non-profit organization, helping fund scholarships for aspiring aviation careers in Cook and Lake County.

Each year, the organization awards scholarships to individuals pursuing careers in aviation, including pilot training, air traffic control, aircraft maintenance, and other aviation-related fields.

Raymond said the nonprofit estimates it will award about $5,000 in scholarships for the upcoming year. Scholarship recipients will be announced at Arrowhead Eagles Aviation’s annual meeting in May.

The upcoming fly-in/drive-in pancake breakfast will be held on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 8-11 a.m. at the Grand Marais/Cook County Airport. The cost of the event is $12 for adults and $8 for people under 16-years of age.
