Peggy Flanagan and Michele Tafoya face off in Minnesota Senate debate hosted by MPR
Minnesota’s U.S. Senate race took center stage Friday, Oct. 16, as Minnesota Public Radio hosted a live debate between Democratic nominee Peggy Flanagan and Republican nominee Michele Tafoya.
The debate comes as the closely watched race draws increased national attention, with recent polling showing a narrow gap between the two candidates. Flanagan, Minnesota’s lieutenant governor, is seeking to succeed Democratic U.S. Sen. Tina Smith, who announced she would not seek reelection. Tafoya, a former sports broadcaster, is running for elected office for the first time.
Friday’s debate gave voters a chance to hear directly from both candidates on their priorities and positions as the campaign moves toward the November general election.
