WTIP and StoryCorps’ One Small Step – A Community Conversation with Youth Interns
In 2024 WTIP was chosen to be a One Small Step Alumni station. We partnered with media students from Mr. McHugh’s class at ISD166 who explored One Small Step methodology, and applied it within our community as part of their summer and fall internship work. This one-hour Community Conversation features some of the 2024 One Small Step interns, Project Coordinator Barbara Jean Meyers and media arts teacher Michael McHugh, who share their thoughts about the process, alongside audio clips from conversations they facilitated with their peers during the school year.
Created by StoryCorps, One Small Step is an effort to remind the country of the humanity in all of us, even those with whom we disagree. The initiative brings strangers from different backgrounds or with different political beliefs together for a conversation—not to debate politics—but to get to know each other as people.
