District 3 Legislators to hold town hall in Two Harbors
North Shore residents will be able to speak directly to the state District 3 legislators on Saturday, April 5. Senator Grant Hauschild, District 3A Representative Roger Skraba, and District 3B Representative Natalie Zeleznikar will hold a town hall meeting at Two Harbors High School beginning at 1 p.m.
Hauschild and Skraba were recently in Cook County for a legislative visit. After meeting with local leaders, Hauschild held a town hall at the Cook County YMCA. At that meeting, residents raised concerns about mining, environmental protection, federal funding cuts, and childcare access.
Before the visit, Hauschild told WTIP about his legislative priorities. Skraba also spoke with WTIP during their March visit about the session’s progress.
This session, Hauschild has authored or co-authored legislation related to childcare access, rural healthcare access, tax reform, mining, and supporting rural infrastructure. For many of these bills, either Skraba or Zeleznikar is the author of the parallel bill in the House. A list of the bills that have been authored or co-authored by Skraba and Zeleznikar can be found on the State Legislature website.
With roughly six weeks left in the legislative session, many bills that have been discussed in committee are expected to return to the entire Senate or House for votes. Last year, the end of the session included some major funding awards for Cook County, but also several key bills left to die, either failing to make it out of committee or left undiscussed by one of the legislative bodies.
Constituents who are unable to attend the upcoming town hall meeting, but are interested in providing feedback or asking questions, can contact the District 3 legislators by email or by calling their offices. Contact information for the legislators’ offices is below.
