Grand Portage biologist discusses Minnesota moose researcher who passed away in late 2022
A dedicated and spirited Minnesota wildlife researcher who shared many updates on the state’s moose population on the WTIP airwaves during the past decade passed away in late December.
Glenn DelGiudice, 68, died on Dec. 23, 2022.
DelGiudice served as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota and worked as a wildlife research biologist for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. He was passionate about his research and exploring the natural world, and he often spent his weekends writing, hiking, and exploring the outdoors, according to his obituary.
WTIP last spoke to DelGiudice in April 2022. The interview focused on the annual moose survey the DNR conducts each winter to collect an estimated count of Minnesota’s moose population.
DelGiudice planned to retire at the end of 2022. WTIP was scheduled to interview DelGiudice in mid-December to speak about his career studying moose and deer. Due to health complications that ultimately led to DelGiudice’s passing, the interview never happened.
To reflect on the career of DelGiudice, WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with another moose researcher in Minnesota, Seth Moore, the director of biology and environment for the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Audio below.
