Great Expectations School hosts pancake breakfast, plant sale
The Great Expectations School Pancake Breakfast and Plant Sale has become a spring tradition for many people, flower and vegetable gardeners alike. The event will be held at the school on Saturday, May 21.
Community members are invited to the pancake breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. The GES lunch team, some students, and some other volunteers will be cooking up the pancakes (gluten-free and regular), orange slices, sausage and maple syrup.
The GES greenhouse will be open for plant shopping from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Emma Adams of GES tells there will be a variety of vegetables, such as tomatoes, squashes, pumpkins, kale, chard and more. There will also be a nice variety of flowers as well. Adams said the marigolds are looking especially lovely.
WTIP’s Rhonda Silence spoke with two GES representatives, Emma Adams and Beth Ferry, about what attendees can expect at the pancakes and plant event and about the students involved in the growing process.
