U.S. Sen. Tina Smith talks Postal Service issues, how it could impact Cook County
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy will appear this week before the U.S. Senate to testify on mail delivery issues and operational changes at the post office that Minnesota lawmakers and others across the country are warning could impact the November election.
Also of concern to Cook County residents regarding changes to post office operations is the impact it could have on prescriptions and the delivery of medications following the news that the local pharmacy is closing Sept. 8.
WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with U.S. Sen. Tina Smith about these topics, including a letter that Smith, Sen. Elizabeth Warren and others in Congress sent to the USPS inspector general earlier this month.
The audio below is their conversation, which aired live on WTIP August 19.
