Cook County voters discuss key issues before Election Day

WTIP teamed with Minnesota Public Radio to hear what issues are important to local voters in Cook County ahead of the Nov. 8 election. Issues ranged from a candidate’s stance on abortion to how fair and accurate voting is in Minnesota.

For this initiative, WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs spoke with Adam Mella, Jennifer Schulz, Todd Smith, Yvonne Mills, Joan Farnam, and Peter Bird. These Cook County voters were asked about the 2022 election, how much attention they are giving the election this year, if they discuss the upcoming election with friends and family, among other questions.

Meanwhile, many voters in Cook County are familiar with voting by mail.

However, as Election Day nears, county officials now recommend local voters take their election ballot to the courthouse in order to assure it will be counted.

The location of the drop box to place ballots is outside the Cook County Courthouse in Grand Marais. The drop box is near the front, or west, entrance to the courthouse.

Many Grand Marais voters head to the polls on Election Day, as voting in these precincts takes place in person at the courthouse or community center.
