Some Cook County residents 55 and older now eligible for COVID vaccine
Cook County Public Health officials announced today on WTIP that Sawtooth Mountain Clinic patients age 55-64 with certain underlying medical conditions or social stressors are now eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
To be eligible for vaccination Thursday, March 11, at the Cook County Community Center in Grand Marais you must be age 65 or older or a patient of the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic age 55-64 who hash either an underlying health condition or a social stressor that puts you at higher risk for COVID-19.

Additionally, some 300 individuals will be receiving their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine during Thursday’s event at the community center. If you received your first dose at an event on Feb. 11, public health officials ask that you please see your vaccine record card for the date and time of your second dose appointment. You may not get a reminder call or text due to an issue with the clinic’s appointment reminder system.

In related news, there have been no additional case of COVID-19 reported in Cook County so far in March. The overall case count since the start of the pandemic remains at 119, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
Cook County continues to have the highest vaccination rate for COVID-19 in Minnesota based on the percentage of local residents who have received the vaccine.
As of March 8, a total of 2,372 Cook County residents, which equates to more than 44 percent of the population, have received the first dose of the vaccine. Among those, more than 1,742 people have received the second dose as well and are fully vaccinated.
More than 1 million Minnesotans have now received at least one dose of vaccine protection against COVID-19, according to state Health Department figures released March 7.
