Wildfire reported in state park, near Cook County and Lake County line

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) wildland firefighters and U.S. Forest Service officials are responding to a wildfire burning within the George H. Crosby Manitou State Park.
The wildfire reported to law enforcement at approximately 1:18 p.m. on Wednesday, is about 1.5 miles inland from Hwy 61 on the east side of the park.
The George H. Crosby Manitou State Park is located near the Cook County and Lake County line and encompasses over 6000 acres.
The wildfire, called the Crosby Fire, is approximately 50 acres as of 9:43 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 9, according to the Minnesota Incident Command System (MNICS). The fire is zero percent contained.
The wildfire is primarily located in a remote ridge area of George H. Crosby Manitou State Park, and the steep terrain is making access to the fire more difficult for firefighters, according to the MNICS. Multiple aircraft are supporting the firefighters on the ground.
George H. Crosby Manitou State Park and the Superior Hiking Trail remain open to public use at this time. Due to the increase in firefighting activity, visitors are advised to use caution.
The cause of the wildfire is unknown at this time.
