Community spread, testing capacity questions arise after first Cook County COVID-19 case

Following the first confirmed case of the new coronavirus in Cook County, local healthcare officials in Grand Marais and Cook County continue to hear questions about the local testing capacity for COVID-19.

At this time, testing capacity remains somewhat limited with regard to who can get tested beyond those who are exhibiting specific symptoms, according to Dr. Kurt Farchmin, Sawtooth Mountain Clinic’s COVID-19 medical director.

In this update with WTIP’s Joe Friedrichs, Dr. Farchmin talks about testing capacity and if there is a chance of community spread in Cook County following the first confirmed local case of the new coronavirus amid the ongoing pandemic.
