Summer food program

Cook County Schools hosts a summer food program from June 9 to August 15. The program provides meals for all children 18 and younger. No registration or income requirements necessary.

Meals are Monday to Friday, breakfast from 8:30 to 9:15 am, and lunch from 11:15 am to noon. Meals must be eaten in the cafeteria.

Mobile Food Pantry Program

Second Harvest Northland’s Mobile Food Pantry Program will be in Cook County on the fourth Wednesday of each month, at the Grand Portage Community Center from 11:30 am to noon and at the Cook County Community Center from 1:30 to 2 pm.

Postpartum Planning

Cook County Higher Education, in partnership with the Arrowhead Birth Collective, is hosting Postpartum Planning on Wednesday, July 23, from 6-7 pm at CCHE & over Zoom. This supportive session will explore what life after birth can look like – emotionally, physically, and practically.

Happy Hikers

The Happy Hikers will be hiking the Kadunce River on Wednesday, July 23. The group meets at 9 am at the Cook County YMCA Parking Lot near the tennis courts. More information is available on the Happy Hikers – Cook Co. Facebook page or by email at carol@morgen.us.

Bone Builders

Bone Builders is a group exercise weight training program that was created for adults who are interested in preventing and reducing osteoporosis. Bone Builders meets at the Lutsen Town Hall on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 to 11 am.

Pull, Plant, Protect the Gunflint Trail

The Gunflint Scenic Byway and the Cook County Invasives Team are hosting the 1st Annual Pull, Plant, Protect the Gunflint Trail Day on Wednesday, July 23. Meet at the Seagull Lake Community Center.

1 to 2:30 PM – info session and treats (info session starts at 2 pm).

2:30 to 3:30 pm – pulling and/or clipping of invasive plants at the end of the Gunflint Trail.

3:30 to 4 pm – prize drawing and treats.

Cook County West End Alanon

The West End Alanon family Group meets each Wednesday at 7 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall.  Alanon is a group that supports friends and family members of alcoholics.  The group welcomes anyone who has been affected by a friend or family member who has a problem with alcohol.

Northern Lotus Meditation

Northern Lotus Meditation takes place on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, with instruction in meditation and room manners at 6:45 pm, at Two Birds Healing Arts Center in Grand Marais.

Beach Knitting

Beach Knitting with Dappled Fern Fibers is held on the Grand Marais Harbor Beach on Tuesday evening from 5:30 to 7 pm and Thursday mornings from 10 to 11:30 am through August. This social knitting group is gently facilitated with thoughtful questions. Bring a simple project, all fiber arts welcome.
