Grand Marais Al-Anon Meetings

Monday Night Al-Anon will meet Mondays, at 7 pm at the First Congregational Church in Grand Marais.

Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners

The Cook County Board of Commissioners meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Room.

Happy Hikers

The Happy Hikers organize a weekly hike on Tuesdays at 9 am.  The September 22 hike will be at SHT 270 Degree Overlook. The group will meet at the Cook County YMCA Parking Lot near the tennis courts to carpool, or meet at the trailhead. More information is available on the Happy Hikers – Cook Co. Empty Bowls Annual Fall Soup Fundraiser

Empty Bowls annual fall soup fundraiser will be held on Tuesday, September 22, at the Cook County Community Center. Lunch will take place from 11 am to 1 pm and dinner from 5 to 7 pm.

Caregiver Retreat

Care Partners of Cook County is offering a Caregiver Appreciation Retreat on Wednesday, September 30, from noon to 3 pm at Skyport Lodge/Raven Rock Grill

Mobile Food Pantry Program

Second Harvest Northland’s Mobile Food Pantry Program will be in Cook County on the fourth Wednesday of each month, at the Grand Portage Community Center from 11:30 am to noon and at the Cook County Community Center from 1:30 to 2 pm.

Fall Prevention Day

North Shore Health will host Fall Prevention Day on Wednesday, September 23, from noon to 3 pm at the Cook County Community Center.

North Shore Health and various community organizations will provide older adults with information, resources and screenings designed to help prevent falls and support safe, independent living at home.

Lunch & Learn: Supporting Independence for Those with Dementia

Cook County Higher Education, in partnership with Care Partners of Cook County, is hosting Lunch & Learn: Supporting Independence for Those with Dementia on Wednesday, September 23, from noon to 1 pm at CCHE or over Zoom. Jenna Pogorels from the Alzheimer’s Association will provide tips for helping people with dementia participate in daily activities.

Cook County West End Alanon

The West End Alanon family Group meets each Wednesday at 7 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall.  Alanon is a group that supports friends and family members of alcoholics.  The group welcomes anyone who has been affected by a friend or family member who has a problem with alcohol.

Northern Lotus Meditation

Northern Lotus Meditation takes place on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, with instruction in meditation and room manners at 6:45 pm, at Two Birds Healing Arts Center in Grand Marais.
