The Cook County Board of Commissioners meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Room.
The Happy Hikers organize a weekly hike on Tuesdays at 9 am. The August 11 hike will be Woods Creek The group will meet at the Cook County YMCA Parking Lot near the tennis courts to carpool, or meet at the trailhead. Chik-Wauk intern Lily Burrows takes visitors on a guided tour through the history of Chik-Wauk Lodge on Tuesdays from 1 to 2 pm. More information at gunflinthistory.org.
The West End Alanon family Group meets each Wednesday at 7 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall. Alanon is a group that supports friends and family members of alcoholics. The group welcomes anyone who has been affected by a friend or family member who has a problem with alcohol.
Northern Lotus Meditation takes place on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, with instruction in meditation and room manners at 6:45 pm, at Two Birds Healing Arts Center in Grand Marais.
The North Shore Music Association, North House Folk School, and WTIP North Shore Community Radio are organizing the inaugural Dockside Sessions, a new series of free outdoor concerts taking place on the first three Wednesdays in August at 7:30 p.m. on the North House Folk School Commons.
