Pump track volunteer work event

A volunteer work event for the pump track is happening on Sunday, May 17, at 9 AM at the Cook County Community Center. Volunteers should wear sturdy footwear and bring gloves and water. Lunch provided. More information can be found by contacting Paul Nordlund at 218-370-9020.

Reframe Aging Monthly Roundtable

Care Partners of Cook County hosts a reframe aging monthly roundtable on the third Monday of each month from 12:15 to 1:45 pm at The Hub. A specially-selected book of the month serves as a springboard for the discussion. More information is available at carepartnersofcookcounty.org.

Grief Group

Care Partners of Cook County is hosting a grief group on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Care Partners office from 5 to 6:30 pm. Care Partners Executive Director Julie Wilson will facilitate the gatherings.  No registration is required.  More information at carepartnersofcookcounty.org.

Northwoods Sustainable Housing - You Are Where You Live: How Healthy Is Your Home Air Quality?

Cook County Higher Education, in partnership with Northwoods Sustainable Housing, is hosting You Are Where You Live: How Healthy is Your Home Air Quality? on Tuesday, May 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 pm at CCHE and Zoom. This session will explore how to assess your home environment to identify risks like radon, particulates, and fumes, and what can be done to reduce toxic exposures. She Does Book Launch

The Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery hosts a book launch party for She Does: Words of Wisdom from North Shore Mompreneurs on Wednesday, May 20, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Cook County West End Alanon

The West End Alanon family Group meets each Wednesday at 7 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall.  Alanon is a group that supports friends and family members of alcoholics.  The group welcomes anyone who has been affected by a friend or family member who has a problem with alcohol.

Northern Lotus Meditation

Northern Lotus Meditation takes place on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, with instruction in meditation and room manners at 6:45 pm, at Two Birds Healing Arts Center in Grand Marais.

Spring Blood Drive

Cook County is partnering with Memorial Blood Centers to host a community blood drive on Thursday and Friday, May 21 and 22, at the Cook County Courthouse. Donors will check in at the courthouse lobby, and the blood drive bus will be parked outside. Community members can sign up in advance on the Memorial Blood Center website (sponsor code 4604).  Those needing assistance or wishing to schedule by phone or email may contact Betsy Blaisdell at 218‑387‑3611 or betsy.blaisdell@cookcountymn.gov.
