The West End Alanon family Group meets each Wednesday at 7 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall. Alanon is a group that supports friends and family members of alcoholics. The group welcomes anyone who has been affected by a friend or family member who has a problem with alcohol.
Northern Lotus Meditation takes place on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, with instruction in meditation and room manners at 6:45 pm, at Two Birds Healing Arts Center in Grand Marais.
The Cook County EDA and Northland Small Business Development Center are offering a workshop covering Minnesota Paid Leave for small business owners. The event is Thursday, May 14 from 10 to 11 AM at Cook County Higher Ed. Registration and more information is available online at northlandsbdc.org.

The memorial service for Barbara Erickson will be held on Saturday, May 16 at 11 am at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. A light lunch will follow the service.
The University of Minnesota Duluth’s Traveling Planetarium will visit Grand Portage on Saturday, May 16. The immersive dome theater will be at the Grand Portage Lodge Events Center from 11 am to 3 pm.
The Annual Meeting of the Arrowhead Eagles Aviation Organization will be held at the Grand Marais/Cook County airport (Arrival/Departure building) on Saturday, May 16, at noon. A business meeting and social hour will be followed by a roundtable discussion on how to pursue a career in aviation, from pilots to controllers to aviation technicians. The “Eagles” will announce the 2025 winner of their Aviation Scholarships at the meeting. The public is welcome.
