North Shore and BWCA hiking trails in good condition as Memorial Day weekend arrives
Crews have been busy clearing trails in anticipation of a busy weekend for outdoor recreation across the WTIP listening area.
From the Border Route Trail to the Superior Hiking Trail, many of the local pathways are set to see an influx of visitors during Memorial Day weekend.

Given the warm weather and abundant sunshine in the forecast, it’s likely other bugs will be arriving in full force in the near future, including black flies and mosquitoes. It’s all part of the scene when it comes to outdoor recreation along the North Shore and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
Despite the likely uptick in biting insects, the weather should be extraordinary for fishing, hiking, cycling, and other forms of outdoor recreation, according to the National Weather Service.
