Sharing stories of an Isle Royale fisherman and local artist: Howard Sivertson

Local author, artist, storyteller and fisherman, Howard Sivertson, passed away in early January. He was 92.

Sivertson was born on May 31, 1930, in Duluth. He was born into a commercial fishing family of Isle Royale, spending summers on Isle Royale and attending school in Duluth when not on the island.

For decades, Howard spent his days painting and writing about the history of the North Shore and Lake Superior region. In 1980, Howard started Sivertson Gallery in Grand Marais.

Guests on the program include Howard’s daughters, Jan Sivertson and Liz Sivertson.

Joining the Sivertson sisters for the discussion is local author, historian, and a longtime friend of Howard Sivertson’s, Tim Cochrane.

The hour-long program will feature stories and memories of Howard Sivertson. Also featured are audio clips of interviews Cochrane did with Howard Sivertson.
