Nature Presentation Interactions at Chik-Wauk Museum & Nature Center

Weekly nature presentations are held on the front porch of Chik-Wauk Museum (in case of inclement weather, the presentations will be held indoors at the Nature Center) on Mondays at 1 pm. All are welcome.

Dark Sky Caravan

The Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium is hitting the road again for the annual Dark Sky Caravan.

  • Tuesday, August 11 from 8 to 10 pm at Split Rock Lighthouse
  • Wednesday, August 12 from 8 to 11 pm at Tettegouche State Park
  • Thursday, August 13 from 8 to 11 pm at North House Folk School
  • Friday, August 14 from 7 to 11 pm at the Schaap Community Center
  • Saturday, August 15 from 6:30 to 10:30 pm at Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center

Schroeder Township meeting

The regular Schroeder Township Board of Supervisors meeting is held on the second Tuesday of the month at the Schroeder Town Hall at 7 pm.  More information at schroedertownship.com.

Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners

The Cook County Board of Commissioners meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioners Room.

Happy Hikers

The Happy Hikers organize a weekly hike on Tuesdays at 9 am.  The August 11 hike will be Woods Creek The group will meet at the Cook County YMCA Parking Lot near the tennis courts to carpool, or meet at the trailhead. Chik-Wauk Weekly Guided History Tour - Every Tuesday until August 18

Chik-Wauk intern Lily Burrows takes visitors on a guided tour through the history of Chik-Wauk Lodge on Tuesdays from 1 to 2 pm.  More information at gunflinthistory.org.

Cook County Lake Steward Workshop

A Lake Stewardship Workshop is being offered by Cook SWCD and MN Lakes and Rivers on Wednesday, August 12, from 10 am to 1 pm at the Community Center Log Cabin. A lunch will be provided. More information is available from Cook County SWCD at 218-387-3647.

Cook County West End Alanon

The West End Alanon family Group meets each Wednesday at 7 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall.  Alanon is a group that supports friends and family members of alcoholics.  The group welcomes anyone who has been affected by a friend or family member who has a problem with alcohol.

Northern Lotus Meditation

Northern Lotus Meditation takes place on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, with instruction in meditation and room manners at 6:45 pm, at Two Birds Healing Arts Center in Grand Marais.
