Thursday Local Food Market

Northwoods Food Project and Cook County Extension organize the Thursday local foods market.  The local food market takes place on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 pm at the Cook County Community Center Parking Lot.  More information is available on the Thursday Local Food Market Facebook page.

Cook County Market

The Cook County Market is held on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm at The Hub (Senior Center) parking lot.  The market features local arts, artists, and artisans.  More information by searching Cook County Market on Facebook.

Children’s Story Hour

Long-time story reader Kevin Kager hosts Children’s Story Hour outside Drury Lane Books on Saturdays at 11 am.

Harbor History Tour

Cook County Historical Society hosts Harbor History Tours on Saturday afternoons at 1 pm.  Weather permitting, the tour begins at the History Museum (8 South Broadway Ave, Grand Marais) and you will walk down to the Coast Guard Station with a tour guide. Visible relics of the past will be discussed and you will hear stories of this small harbor and community.

*Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Community tech support

Boreal Community Media is offering community tech support events twice a week at The Hub (Senior Center) throughout the summer.  Walk-in events will take place on:

Mondays:  8:00-11:30 and 12:30-4:00

Thursdays:  12:30-4:00

Schroeder Township meeting

The regular Schroeder Township Board of Supervisors meeting is held on the second Tuesday of the month at the Schroeder Town Hall at 7 pm.  More information at schroedertownship.com.

Happy Hikers

The Happy Hikers will be hiking Kimball Creek on Wednesday, August 10.  The group meets at the YMCA parking lot at 9 am. More information is available from Carol Morgen at carol@morgen.us or 715-377-2526.

U.S. Forest Service Nature Presentation

US Forest Service naturalists present a different Northwoods-themed topic each week at Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center.  Presentations are held on Wednesdays at 2 pm.  More information at gunflinthistory.org.
