The Cook County Historical Society (CCHS) invites you to a special live blacksmithing demonstration during Grand Marais’s annual Fisherman’s Picnic on August 1, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bally Blacksmith & Metal Shop.
Can’t make the event? You can still visit the Bally Blacksmith & Metal Shop during our regular summer hours! Stop by to chat with our interpretive staff, take a tour, and explore the museum every Saturday and Sunday, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. through the summer.

Weekly nature presentations are held on the front porch of Chik-Wauk Museum (in case of inclement weather, the presentations will be held indoors at the Nature Center) on Mondays at 1 pm. All are welcome.

The Happy Hikers organize a weekly hike on Tuesdays at 9 am. The August 4 hike will be Carlton Peak. The group will meet at the Gitchi-Gami BIke State Trail Parking Lot on Highway 61 and Ski Hill Road, Lutsen to carpool, or meet at the trailhead. Care Partners is offering a new opportunity for caregivers to gather for casual conversation and mutual encouragement. This monthly meeting is open to anyone who is caring for an older friend or family member, and offers a chance to visit with others who share the caregiving journey. Led by Care Partners volunteers Kathy Reeves and Kay Costello, the group will meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 1 pm at The Hub.
