Community Mindfulness Night

Community Mindfulness Nights are held on the last Monday of every month from 6 to 7:30 pm at Two Bird Healing Arts Center. September 28 will feature Chakra Balancing for Inner Harmony with Melanie Eldridge.

Monday Night Al-Anon will meet Mondays, at 7 pm at the First Congregational Church in Grand Marais.

Happy Hikers

The Happy Hikers organize a weekly hike on Tuesdays at 9 am.  The September 29 hike will be LeVeaux Mountain. The group will meet at the Gitchi-Gami Bike State Trail Parking Lot on Highway 61 and Ski Hill Road to carpool, or meet at the trailhead. More information is available on the Happy Hikers – Cook Co. North Shore Health June-September Artists’ Reception

North Shore Health will host an Artists’ Reception celebrating the June- September art and artists on Tuesday, September 29, from 4:00–5:15 pm in the Multi-Purpose Room and Lobby. Community members are invited to explore current local art exhibits, meet the artists who contribute to NSH’s rotating displays, and enjoy complimentary snacks and refreshments.

North Shore Women Veterans Support & Connection Group

Cook County Higher Education hosts North Shore Women Veterans Support & Connection Group Building on Tuesday, September 29, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. Facilitated by Karen Christianson, Cook County Veterans Services Veterans Services Officer.

American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED  

Cook County Higher Education hosts American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED training on Wednesday, September 30, from 9 am to 12:30 pm. American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid training will take place from 1 to 4 pm.

Cook County West End Alanon

The West End Alanon family Group meets each Wednesday at 7 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall.  Alanon is a group that supports friends and family members of alcoholics.  The group welcomes anyone who has been affected by a friend or family member who has a problem with alcohol.

Northern Lotus Meditation

Northern Lotus Meditation takes place on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, with instruction in meditation and room manners at 6:45 pm, at Two Birds Healing Arts Center in Grand Marais.

Grand Marais Farmers Market

The Grand Marais Farmers Market is held on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 pm at the Cook County Community Center Parking Lot. The market is operated as a partnership between the Northwoods Food Project, the Cook County Community Center, and Cook County U of MN Extension.

Finland Farmers Market

The Finland Farmers Market is held on Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 pm at the Clair Nelson Center pavilions.

Drop In Modern Dance Classes

Drop-in Modern Dance Classes take place on Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 pm at the Colvill Town Hall, with a rotating cast of teachers: Steph Vos, Rachel Clark, Margaret Johnson, and Lenna Stever-Sobanja. No dance experience needed.

Northwoods Food Project Harvest Celebration

The Northwoods Food Project hosts the second annual Harvest Celebration on Friday, October 2, from 5 to 7:30 pm at the Cook County Community Center.

First Fridays

North House Folk School hosts First Fridays, a monthly series of community gatherings on campus. Meet on the Commons and the Blue Building each month for activities, speakers, dancing, games, and more at 5:30 pm. More information is available at northhouse.org.

All-levels yoga class on the rooftop at Voyageur Brewing Company each Saturday at 9:30 AM. Registration and more information is available online.

Cook County Market

The Cook County Market is held on Saturdays from 10 am to 2 pm at The Hub parking lot.  The market features local arts, artists, and artisans.  More information by searching Cook County Market on Facebook.

Storytelling from the Back Roads of Cook County

Storytelling from the Back Roads of Cook County will take place on Saturday, October 3, from 2 to 4 pm at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts.  The collaborative event is hosted by the Historical Alliance of Cook County (Cook County Historical Society, Gunflint Trail Historical Society, Schroeder Historical Society, and Tofte Historical Society) and will feature speakers from each participating organization sharing stories of local lore and history.

Care Partners of Cook County organizes “Connecting Caregivers” on the first Wednesday of each month at 1 pm at the Cook County Community Center. Led by Care Partners volunteer Kay Costello and Care Coordinator Barb Bernady Rose.
