Cook County National Dog Day Promenade

The Cook County National Dog Day Promenade will be held on Wednesday, August 26 at 4 pm. Gather with your dogs at the Visit Cook County Information Center for a parade in honor of National Dog Day.

Cook County West End Alanon

The West End Alanon family Group meets each Wednesday at 7 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall.  Alanon is a group that supports friends and family members of alcoholics.  The group welcomes anyone who has been affected by a friend or family member who has a problem with alcohol.

Northern Lotus Meditation

Northern Lotus Meditation takes place on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, with instruction in meditation and room manners at 6:45 pm, at Two Birds Healing Arts Center in Grand Marais.

Sawmill Tours

Sawmill Tours at Hedstrom Lumber are held during the summer on Thursdays at 10 am and 1 pm. Tours are led by Steve Robertson, a recently retired interpreter for the US Forest Service. Tours require a reservation. Reservations can be made at hedstromlumber.com.

Grand Marais Farmers Market

The Grand Marais Farmers Market is held on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 pm at the Cook County Community Center Parking Lot. The market is operated as a partnership between the Northwoods Food Project, the Cook County Community Center, and Cook County U of MN Extension.

Finland Farmers Market

The Finland Farmers Market is held on Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 pm at the Clair Nelson Center pavilions.

Bingo at Up Yonder with Arrowhead Animal Rescue

Arrowhead Animal Rescue hosts Bingo at Up Yonder on Thursday, August 27 from 6 to 8 pm. Proceeds go to their new shelter.

Full Moon Poetry

Drury Lane Books hosts a Full Moon Poetry event on Friday, August 28, from 6 to 8 pm. This month, it is with Duluth Poet Ryan Vine. Ryan will share from his newest collection, The Cave. Reading will begin at 6 pm, with time for questions, conversation, and book signing after. The campfire will be open for the standard open-mic style reading with any remaining time.

Harbor History Walking Tours with the Cook County Historical Society

The Cook County Historical Society leads Harbor History Walking Tours on Fridays from 7 to 8:30 pm (weather permitting). Interested participants can meet outside the History Museum and should be able to walk approximately a mile on uneven surfaces. More information at cookcountyhistory.org.
