Boreal Community Media is offering community tech support events twice a week at The Hub (Senior Center) throughout the summer. Walk-in events will take place on:
Mondays: 8:00-11:30 and 12:30-4:00
Thursdays: 12:30-4:00
There will be an AARP Driver Safety Refresher course on Monday, June 27 from 5 to 9 pm at the Cook County Community Center in Grand Marais.
Minnesota drivers ages 55 and up who take an approved 8-hour Driver Safety course receive an auto insurance discount, and can maintain that discount by taking a 4-hour refresher course every three years. More information from Pam at 387-2035.
Hedstrom Lumber Company offers tours of their sawmill on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 2 pm and on Fridays from 10 to 11:30 am. Registration is required. More information and registration at hedstromlumber.com/sawmill-tours.
Zero Waste Cook County educator Kristina Mattson hosts a Zoom presentation teaching simple, fun, and practical ways to take charge of your household waste and optimize your recycling. More information and registration are available at mycche.org.
Weekly Zen Meditations are held in the lower level of the First Congregational Church UCC in Grand Marais at 6:30 pm. Meditations are led by Rev. Zahir Roman Orest of Northern Lotus Zen Community. More information from Rev. Zahir Roman Orest at 612-865-4369.
The Grand Marais Playhouse is proud to participate in the Cook County Pride Festival by hosting Tuesday evening movies each week in June at 7 pm at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts. The movies share LGBTQ2S themes and the titles can be found by calling the Playhouse at (218)-235-4059. Due to licensing agreements and copyright laws, the Playhouse cannot share movie titles through public media. The June 7 movie is rated PG-13, the rest on June 14, 21, & 28 are rated R.
US Forest Service naturalists present a different Northwoods-themed topic each week at Chik-Wauk Museum and Nature Center. Presentations are held on Wednesdays at 2 pm. More information at gunflinthistory.org.
Cook County West End Alanon is meeting every Wednesday, in person, at the Lutsen Townhall at 7:00 PM and also available on Zoom.
