Author Talk with Rudi Hargesheimer, Superior Trails

Drury Lane Books hosts an author talk with Rudi Hargesheimer on Saturday, May 30, from 6 to 7:30 pm.  Rudi will discuss and present images from his newest book, Superior Trails: A Photo Tour of Lake Superior’s Best Hiking Trails.

Summer Solstice Workshops

Summer solstice puppet-making workshops are being held at the Cook County Community Center on Thursdays and Fridays from 3 to 8 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am to 1 pm and 3 to 8 pm. No experience is necessary, and you don’t need to perform in the show to help create it.

Full Moon Poetry

Drury Lane Books hosts a Full Moon Poetry event from 6 to 8 pm. This is an open community bonfire where all are encouraged to share a favorite piece of prose or literature. Meet just behind the shop on the beach side. More information is available at drurylanebooks.com.

Monday Night Al-Anon will meet Mondays, at 7 pm at the First Congregational Church in Grand Marais.

Connecting Caregivers

Care Partners is offering a new opportunity for caregivers to gather for casual conversation and mutual encouragement. This monthly meeting is open to anyone who is caring for an older friend or family member, and offers a chance to visit with others who share the caregiving journey. Led by Care Partners volunteers Kathy Reeves and Kay Costello, the group will meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 1 pm at The Hub. Grand Marais City Council Meeting

The Grand Marais City Council meets on the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall. More information at ci.grand-marais.mn.us.

Cook County West End Alanon

The West End Alanon family Group meets each Wednesday at 7 pm at the Lutsen Town Hall.  Alanon is a group that supports friends and family members of alcoholics.  The group welcomes anyone who has been affected by a friend or family member who has a problem with alcohol.

Northern Lotus Meditation

Northern Lotus Meditation takes place on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 pm, with instruction in meditation and room manners at 6:45 pm, at Two Birds Healing Arts Center in Grand Marais.

Backpacking the Eagle Mountain Trail Maintenance Trip

Friends of the Superior National Forest is seeking volunteers for a four-day backpacking trail-maintenance trip to Eagle Mountain, from Friday, June 5, to Monday, June 8.  Volunteers will hike into a backcountry campsite and help restore trails and reopen a wilderness campsite for the 2026 recreation season.
